As a part of the civics theme of the Conservatory for the Humanites and in order to connect the story of Sprit Skies to real life,
we adopted a plot of Balboa Park in San Diego, CA and designed and planted a Hummingbird Garden. The goal is to show that students can affect positive change by beautifying our city through the planting of drought resistant plants that attract hummingbirds as they migrate through Southern California. Sparky Shelton, CCA '15 designed and chose all of the plants and flowering trees. The Conservatory is continuing to monitor and routinely maintain this garden.
A special thanks to Friends of Balboa Park and Councilman Todd Gloria who donated to this project.
