Behavior of the Hummingbird
Hummingbirds are extremely territorial and are known to chase away larger birds from their nesting areas. In addition, it is not uncommon to find them fighting intrusive hummingbirds by “body slamming” the other in midair.
Hummingbirds are community oriented. They tend to migrate as a community. There are many reasons as to what triggers the commencement of their migration. The general consensus is that hummingbirds sense a change in daylight duration, and changes in the abundance of flowers, nectar and insects.
