Berylline Hummingbird

 

Habitat: Mountainous forests and canyons, mainly around Arizona

 

Food: Mostly nectar and insects however also feeds from sugar mixtures in hummingbird feeders.

 

Migratory Path: Stays in the northern part of the US

 

Behavior: Hovers over flowers and extends tongue deep into the flower. Catches insects flying in mid air.

 

Conservation Status: Common and widespread in Mexico but are vulnerable to habitat loss.
