Blue-throated Hummingbird

 

Habitat: Woodstreams in canyons. Found in flowing waters in shady canyons.

 

Food: Mostly nectar and insects but can survive on insects during dry seasons where few flowers are blooming. Also feed on water sugar from hummingbird feeders.

 

Migratory Path: Permanently live in Mexico, will sometimes winter in Arizona

 

Behaviour: Hovers over flowers and extends tongue deep into the flower. Catches insects flying in mid air. Catch spiders from their spiderwebs.

 

Conservation Status: Usually in the US, numbers have increased in recent years.
