Buff-bellied Hummingbird 

 

Habitat: Woods and thickets, mainly around Texas. Generally woodlands, edges and clearings.

 

 

Food: Mostly nectar and insects however also feeds from sugar mixtures in hummingbird feeders.

 

 

Migratory Path: Generally stay in Texas throughout the year however some move north to upper Texas and Louisiana

 

 

Behavior:  Hovers over flowers and extends tongue deep into the flower. Catches insects flying in mid air.

 

 

Conservation Status: Numbers have declined in the past however it remains pretty stable
