Rufous Hummingbird
Habitat: Forests, streamsides and meadows.
Food: Mostly nectar and insects but will also feed on sugar water from hummingbird feeders.
Migratory: Moves northwest in the spring through the Pacific Lowlands and southeast in late June towards the Rocky Mountains. However path stretches from Alaska to the Panama Canal.
Behavior: Hovers over flowers and extends tongue deep into the flower. Catches insects flying in mid air.
Conservation Status: Still widespread and very common however there is a gradual decline.
