White-eared Hummingbird 

 

Habitat: Montane forest and pine-oak woods

 

Food: Mostly nectar and insects, also feeds on sugar water in hummingbird feeders.

 

Migratory Path: Permanent resident over most of it’s range. North of Mexican border over the summer and sometimes spends winter in Arizona.

 

Behavior: Hovers over flowers and extends tongue deep into the flower. Catches insects flying in mid air.

 

Conservation Status:Widespread and common in Mexico
